Part of the challenge is that coherence is a management issue - in the sense of getting it right, and also when it drifts away. Management is both the cause and the solution, which can make discovery subject to data contamination. And yet, recurring themes about silo mentality, internal politics, power struggles and the like suggest that not all organisations achieve desired levels of coherence.
Scanner and discovery
Magus Scanner is a powerful discovery and change enabling tool. It uses web based data collection and inference engine technology to handle time and cost issues - and eliminates data contamination problems at the same time. It identifies strategically important issues, relating to organisational coherence, the business strategy and key 'organisational permissions'.
‘Organisational permissions’ are implicit signals in the design of all structures and processes - and management behaviours. Unlike the communications in 'formal' change programmes, permissions send signals to employees every hour of every day about 'what counts around here'. Because permissions are unintended and largely hidden, without Scanner they are generally difficult to track down - and hard to change."
Scanner graphical reports illustrate both the current degree of coherence in the organisation as a whole; and where changes are needed to increase it. Magus Scanner has two diagnostic tools that are designed to help identify these hidden drivers of key coherence issues and enable managers to convert that knowledge into remedial and developmental action.
Additionally, Scanner identifies potential change agents - the people who will be influential in helping the organisation to change and develop.
